*The Artist:*.... Growing up in a musical family may have kick-started her ambitions, but taking charge and
making her own music is what drives Lacey Conner. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Lacey had already conquered her hometown
as a teen when awarded Best Female Vocalist by the listeners of 97.1 FM The Eagle, Dallas’ Clear Channel affiliate.
Lacey fronted her own band and toured the US several times, while also recording professionally in Dallas, Chicago and Los
Angeles. Eventually putting the band behind her, she packed up her laptop, synthesizer and bass and relocated to the artistic
Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Once settled in, she began writing and recording her newest songs, which she programs,
sings, performs and produces herself.
*The Music*.... The first four recorded songs to escape Lacey display a confident originality while hinting at some
not-so-obvious influences. Above all else, this is pop music: youthful, sexy, sleek, exhilarating. Lacey’s vocals are
right up front, backed by taut synthesizer arrangements and punchy, driving rhythm programming. “That’s Just the
Way Things Go” is funky and danceable; with a hooky melody line that is akin to Kelly Clarkson, if she were mixed with
an 80’s retro vibe. “Get In” is lyrically built on a series of suggestive car euphemisms highlighted by
sound effects that recall girl-group pioneers the Shangri-Las. “This Thing Called Love” has a hook that won’t
let go, with a driving dance beat not dissimilar to Madonna’s most recent musical concoctions. Musically, all of the
songs are an unpredictable and interesting blend of modern pop, such as Gwen Stefani and Pink, but with an 80’s twist,
reminiscent of Kraftwerk and New Order.
*The Presentation:*.... Lacey Conner is the kind of young woman other young women want to look up to and young men
want to, well, admire. In complete control of her image, she can be light, breezy and sexy or more seductive and passionate.
As hip about fashion as she is about music, she knows image is the first thing her audience absorbs. Video and photography
are also an important window to her personality. Lacey is also aware that there is life beyond rehearsals, shows, and studio
sessions. She has donated much of her spare time to the causes of animal and human rights.
